  • The Hydrow rower is $150 off right now on the brand's website.

  • The rower has been backed by many celebrities, including Justin Timberlake, Lizzo, Kevin Hart, and more.

  • The at-home rowing machine has been dubbed the "Peloton of rowing machines," and it's selling fast—so grab yours while supplies last!

Imagine starting your workout in your living room, and ending up in Scotland, Miami, or London. It might sound too good to be true (after all, who wouldn't want to take a vacation right now), but one of the hottest rowing machines on the market, Hydrow , (which we named our “best upgraded rower” of the best rowing machines of 2021) can take you there—virtually, of course.

Hydrow has quickly been dubbed the “Peloton of rowing machines,” and is designed to realistically mimic rowing in a body of water from wherever you are—even inside of your small apartment.

Wondering why you should consider adding a rowing machine to your home gym? Rowing is a great source of exercise—particularly cardio. The resistance of the “water” increases your heart rate and builds strength. And it’s a low-impact workout that goes easy on your joints, making rowers ideal for just about anyone, especially people in recovery or who are newer to exercise. It works your legs, glutes, and upper body, too.

The machine itself is designed to fit in with your decor thanks to its minimalist aesthetic, and includes a high-quality 22” touchscreen display with front-facing speakers for an immersive experience. Plus, the rower has a drag mechanism that is electromagnet and computer-controlled for realistic movement, ergonomic and cushioned design for comfort, and a virtually silent and smooth stroke for quiet exercising.

Fans of the workout machine include musicians like Justin Timberlake and Lizzo, and comedian Kevin Hart, who was recently named the brand’s creative director.

“So proud of the work that we are doing with Hydrow. Rowing is such an amazing full-body workout. I have fallen in love with this machine and the community of rowers that are a part of this world. If you do not know what this world is about, please do yourself a favor and try it. Trust me when I tell you that it does not disappoint,” Hart wrote in a recent Instagram post about the product.

They aren't the only celebs who are supporting the brand. Hydrow investors include big names like comedian Whitney Cummings, and football players Aaron Rodgers and Travis Kelce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Famous athletes are getting in on the production side of the machine, too. Live classes are led by real athletes like Paralympian rower Dani Hansen and Olympic rower Aquil Abdullah, in real waterways all over the world.

But if investing over $2k in a single piece of equipment gives you pause (because, that is a big chunk of change) the machine comes with over 2,000 live and on-demand exercises for yoga, pilates, strength training, and more, too. Users can opt to hit the mat with pilates and strength-training workouts and check into the app that allows for engaging with a thriving fitness community, according to the Hydrow website.

As more and more people drop gym memberships in favor of at-home workouts due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, the brand's sales have been booming. In 2020 alone Hydrow’s sales grew by 500%, according to Bloomberg.

The Hydrow rower starts at $2,295 (but is on sale now for $2,145) and increases from there, depending on the package you purchase. Hydrow also offers accessories like a machine mat, a performance foam roller, and a one-year membership to help you make the most of your rower.

If all of this doesn't convince you to add the rower to your cart, Hydrow also donates to the nonprofit organization Water.org which helps grant long-term access to safe water and sanitation to those who need it most. The brand says that for every 25 days you work out with Hydrow, they’ll make a donation.
