Sedan sought in fatal hit-and-run

THOUSAND OAKS — Ventura County Sheriff's officials released images of a white sedan suspected in a fatal hit-and-run in Thousand Oaks on June 7.

They hope the public can help them identify the vehicle or driver.

The incident was reported around 8:40 p.m. on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, west of Clay Court. A 77-year-old man, Xuezeng Yang, had been crossing the boulevard in a marked crosswalk as part of a group when the sedan struck him, according to the sheriff's office, which is contracted to provide police services in Thousand Oaks.

A witness saw the sedan pause briefly just past the crosswalk before fleeing the scene. Investigators have determined the car headed eastbound on the boulevard, turned right on Rancho Road and got onto northbound Highway 101.

More photos are on the sheriff's Nixle feed.

Anyone who saw the collision or has information about the sedan or driver is asked to call Senior Traffic Investigator Marcos Moreno at 805-947-8289.
