Roseanne Barr is facing another controversy after she made comments in a recent podcast interview with This Past Weekend, where she claimed "nobody died in the Holocaust," among other contentious statements.

Now, Barr's son, Jake Pentland, is defending her, telling TMZ, "We are embarrassed that people are stupid enough not to recognize Roseanne is being sarcastic."

He added, "We think it's funny that people are so stupid. Let's stop doing this clickbait shit, we need to focus on big problems in America. Focusing on out-of-context clips is what morons do."

The interview's host, podcaster Theo Von, also came to Barr's defense, saying in a Tweet, "This Roseanne Barr clip was sarcasm folks. A clip taken out of a long sarcastic rant she had during our chat. Can we not recognize sarcasm anymore?"

He then shared the "full clip" on Twitter, saying that she was "using sarcasm and satire."

During the conversation, Barr talks about her desire to "outlaw bullshit," before going on a rant saying that now, free speech is limited and people are given guidelines to speak the "real truth."

She then brings up the 2020 election and claims that President Joe Biden made a "mandate" that him winning the election was the "real truth," insinuating that the number of votes he received was untrue. Barr then discusses censorship on social media, seemingly criticizing alleged efforts to limit talk from election deniers.

Barr then continued with her most controversial statements, saying, "And, nobody died in the Holocaust either. That's the truth. It should happen. Six million Jews should die right now cause they cause all the problems in the world. But, it never happened."

According to Von and Pentland, Barr's sarcasm continued throughout this entire conversation, and Barr, who is Jewish, doesn't genuinely believe her statements about the Holocaust.

The conversation between Barr and Von in the interview is a little confusing, and Barr's meaning and true opinions are challenging to understand. During the podcast, Von didn't remark on Barr's Holocaust comments, instead shifting the conversation to Hollywood.

Because of her use of sarcasm, it's unclear whether or not Barr actually believes that the Holocaust didn't happen, but either way, many found her comments insensitive and irresponsible.

As of writing, Barr has not responded to the backlash directly, but the actress and Pentland have a podcast, The Roseanne Barr Podcast, with Pentland saying they'll  discuss the situation on this week's episode.
