Three days of memorial services for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who passed away last week at age 96, will begin today in Atlanta, Georgia.

A motorcade carrying her coffin will leave Plains, Georgia, her hometown, this morning, and travel to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, then to her alma mater, Georgia Southwestern State University, before continuing to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta. There, a repose service will be held this afternoon, and members of the public are invited to pay their respects this evening, between 6 and 10 p.m.

"Rosalynn Carter’s deep compassion for people everywhere and her untiring strength on their behalf touched lives around the world. We have heard from thousands of you since her passing," the Carter family said in a statement last week. "Thank you all for joining us in celebrating what a treasure she was, not only to us, but to all humanity."

Tomorrow, a tribute service will be held at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church at Emory University; President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff are all expected to attend. On Wednesday, a private funeral service will take place at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, the Carters' home church.

It's as yet unclear if Jimmy Carter, who is currently in hospice care, will be making the trip to Atlanta.
