Ronan Farrow Buys Lower East Side Penthouse for $5.65 Million

The Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist’s new place has a 1,000-square-foot private terrace with views of downtown Manhattan

Ronan Farrow just traded up for a larger Manhattan apartment, making the move from the Upper West Side to downtown. The acclaimed journalist and son of actress Mia Farrow recently dropped $5.65 million for a three-bedroom Lower East Side penthouse in a mixed-use building. The Wall Street Journal reports that the unit, which spans more than 2,000 square feet, was previously on the market for $5.9 million.

The top-floor dwelling features high ceilings reaching over 10 feet tall and wide-plank white oak floors for a spacious feel. There is an open-concept main living area and kitchen, and a master bedroom located off to one side of the unit includes its own generous walk-in closet and en suite bathroom with radiant-heated marble floors. In addition to the interior spaces, the apartment also boasts an enviable 1,000-square-foot private terrace with views of the World Trade Center and the rest of downtown Manhattan.

Farrow’s previous home was also his first: a 982-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment located in the Lincoln Square area of the Upper West Side, which he bought for $1.495 million after landing his own MSNBC talk show back in 2014. Details of the doorman-building apartment are scant, except for the fact that it is located on the 15th floor and has views of the Hudson River, with a landscaped roof deck. It is currently listed on the market for $1.6 million.
