Rogue Squirrel Takes Over Yankee Stadium and Fans' Reactions Are Everything

Tons of baseball fans worldwide have 'watching a baseball game at Yankee Stadium' written on their bucket lists. Apparently--so did one local squirrel!

The curious creature recently shocked Yankees fans after making a surprise appearance early in the second inning of a game against the Orioles. Fans first saw the squirrel climbing the @yankees bullpen, but soon the animal ran for it along the right-field wall. Much to everyone's delight, a slow-mo, close-up video perfectly captured all the chaos.

LMAO! We're not sure who we're more obsessed with-- the entertainment-seeking squirrel or every person the squirrel ran by. They were all absolutely shocked to see the critter, and we can't say that we blame them at all. We'd be stunned if this happened while we were so focused on the game, too!

"Is just me or does [the squirrel] look like a Yankees fan?" @6star.la asked. Haha! The animal definitely had that raw New Yorker energy and an IDGAF attitude, so we'd guess he's a local. Still, he did look a bit confused about where he ended up.

Several commenters also expressed concern for the squirrel's health and safety. After all, a baseball stadium isn't exactly their natural habitat. Still, a reminder from @docbrown that this species "can survive terminal velocity" has us feeling much more relieved.

Upon further research--it's true! Every object in the world--living or unliving--will reach a maximum falling speed, or 'terminal velocity' if they were freefalling to Earth from an unlimited height. In the simplest terms, squirrels can survive a fall at terminal velocity since their terminal velocity is so much lower than other species'. So there's no reason to worry about this curious squirrel and their intense parkour skills!
