Rocket Fizz, a ‘nostalgic’ soda, candy shop, celebrating opening at Tanger Outlets
BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A soda and candy shop is celebrating its grand opening Friday at Tanger Outlets Grand Rapids.
Rocket Fizz, a “nostalgic” soda and candy shop chain, now has a location next to Journeys inside the Byron Township outlet mall, Tanger Outlets said in a Tuesday release.
It had a soft opening in January, according to its Facebook page, but the store’s team is celebrating its grand opening Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:15 p.m. The celebration will include the Byron Center drumline and 20% of its profits on Friday will be donated to the Byron Center Fine Arts Boosters, Rocket Fizz says.
Rocket Fizz has more than 1,000 types of candy and 400 sodas. The sodas are made with cane sugar and come in glass bottles. It also makes its own “fantastically good” taffy with more than 100 flavors, Tanger Outlets said.
The franchise location owners, Brian and Laura Boyer, enjoyed visiting a different Rocket Fizz location with their family.
“(They) have always wanted to share the joy of being a kid in a candy store with their home community,” Tanger Outlets said in the release.
Rocket Fizz also has a location in Grand Rapids near Celebration Cinema Grand Rapids North and in downtown Kalamazoo, according to its website.
