The Rock Shared a Rare Video of the Moment He Proposed to Lauren Hashian
Dwayne Johnson shared an Instagram post to honor the one-year anniversary of his wedding day with wife Lauren Hashian.
The video showed moments from their wedding and Johnson’s proposal set to Hashian’s new song, “Step Into A Love Like This.”

On August 18, 2019, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Lauren Hashian tied the knot in Hawaii. One year later, Johnson is honoring their anniversary with an Instagram tribute that featured a video from their wedding day.
The eight-minute compilation highlighted pictures, special glimpses of his proposal, a portion of their vows, and behind-the-scenes shots of them preparing for the ceremony.
“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for blessing beyond my imagination. Two of them are right there,” Johnson said in the video as the camera panned to their daughters Tiana and Jasmine. Then, he takes Hashian’s hands. “The other one I’m holding right here.” (BRB, crying.)
Next, Hashian read her vows. “The day you came into my town, I didn’t know you’d stay there in my life. Over a decade later, finally we get to call each other husband and wife,” she said. “We created two beautiful girls. You are the mate to my soul. I’ve never felt safer before. You’re my protector, my guardian angel, and I’ll always protect our space and beautiful energy.”
Near the three-minute mark, Johnson also offered a peek into the moment he proposed to Hashian. With his two little girls by his side, the couple approaches the ocean, and he gets down on one knee. Watch below for yourself:
Johnson opened up more about their wedding day and his love for Hashian in the caption. “The mate to my soul ❤️💍 One year ago today, on August 18, 2019 - I had the honor of marrying @laurenhashianofficial,” he wrote. “Later that night she surprised me with this beautiful song, ‘Step Into A Love Like This’ that she wrote and sang herself in honor of our marriage.”
“From the moment I heard the song’s opening line, of ‘...every angel in heaven is singing for us today...’ as tribute to our loved ones who’ve passed away and no longer with us - I got very emotional,” he continued. “As I still get emotional today when I hear those words and watch this wedding footage.”
Johnson said, other than the day his daughters were born, the song was the greatest gift he’s ever received. “Bottom line, I’m a lucky and grateful husband, father, and man to have such an amazing woman by my side through this unpredictable, yet beautiful thing we call life,” he said.
“Step Into A Love Like This” is out today, and Hashian further opened up about what inspired her to write the song in an Instagram post.
“This has been the most personal and rewarding song I’ve ever written. Personal because every word is from the heart, and rewarding because one year ago today on our wedding day August 18, 2019, I was able to share this song with my man I now call my husband in front of our little girls and our family and friends,” she wrote. “It was an honor and a gift to reflect on our life and love then and I truly can’t believe the things that we’ve been able to share in our lifetime.”
