The 38th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Nov. 3, honoring some of the biggest names in the history of music, including Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliot and more.
Since 1986, when Cleveland was selected as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum’s permanent home, the induction ceremony has been graced by music legends including The Beatles, Dolly Parton and Kiss. Ahead of the 2023 event, WWD has rounded up a what-to-know and how-to-watch guide.

The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Nov. 3.
Is the ceremony broadcast on TV or streaming services?
For the first time in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony history, the event will be broadcast. The ceremony will be streamed on Disney+. The streaming service’s most basic plan available is basic with ads for $7.99 a month.
Who are the 2023 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
This year’s inductees for performers include Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliot, Willie Nelson, George Michael, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners.
The Musical Influence Awards will go to DJ Kool Herc and Kool Ray. The Musical Excellence Awards will go to Chaka Khan, Al Kooper and Bernie Taupin. The Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performing individuals will go to Don Cornelius.
How are inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame selected?
Musicians become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first recording. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation’s nominating committee, made up of rock historians, selects nominees each year in the performer category, who are then voted upon by an international body of music experts.
Where is this year’s induction ceremony taking place?
The 2023 ceremony is taking place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Can fans vote for inductees?
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame began the “Fan Vote” in 2013, where the top five fan favorites are submitted as one official ballot for counting with the rest of the Voting Committees. Historically, 57 percent of artists who finish in the top five are inducted that year. Although it’s not a guarantee, the top winner of the fan vote has been inducted every year except for the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. The group was absent from the induction list, despite having racked up more than 1 million votes online.
