  • Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently wrapped production on his superhero debut film, the DC Extended Universe's Black Adam.

  • In a new interview with Collider, Hiram Garcia—president of The Rock's production company, Seven Bucks Productionsconfirms that Johnson and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige have a "great relationship.

  • For now, he seems to be content playing Black Adam's central anti-hero. But for the future, you can never say never.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is headed to uncharted territory—a multiverse is now in play. And perhaps somewhere down the line (thinking, like, way down the line) that uncharted territory could include Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Because in a new interview with Collider, Hiram Garcia—President of The Rock's production company, Seven Bucks Productions—elaborated on Johnson's "great relationship" with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

"DJ and Kevin [Feige] have a great relationship and we've flirted around a few ideas before, but nothing serious," Garcia said. "There’s a mutual admiration for what we each have been doing and what Kevin has built over there is truly incredible."

But, as he continued, their team has long been committed to bringing Black Adam to the big screen.

"Black Adam was the character we wanted to bring to life and who we felt DJ was destined to play," he said. "Once we set our sites on this character over a decade ago it was hard to imagine DJ playing anyone else."

Still, though, that "great relationship" with Kevin Feige is something that...not everyone has. And if they've "flirted around" a few ideas before, it could certainly happen again. And granted that we've seen actors like Idris Elba (as Heimdall in the Thor movies and now Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad) and Randall Park (as both Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp and WandaVision in the MCU and Dr. Steven Shin in Aquaman) play parts in both the active MCU and DCEU, it's certainly something that could be in play.

Maybe The Rock could be a member of the X-Men somewhere down the line? He's obviously got the build to play a new Colossus, but would he want to cover himself in all that chrome? Maybe he could be a new age Reed Richards for the upcoming Fantastic Four? Johnson has that personable charisma that would make him fit for any character that needs it.

Anyway, that's enough speculation for now. Let's just keep counting the days until Black Adam drops on July 29, 2022. Less than a year away now!
