Rochester BBQ joint makes Yelp's list of Top 100 BBQ spots nationwide
Yelp has published its list of Top 100 Barbecue Spots for 2024. Just one in New York State made the list.
The Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, at 99 Court St. in downtown Rochester, squeaked in at number 96.
The methodology: Yelp identified businesses in the category with a large concentration of reviews mentioning “barbecue,” and ranked them using factors such as the total volume and ratings among reviews mentioning the keywords.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que opened its first location in Syracuse in 1988. The Rochester location, its second, opened 10 years later in the former Lehigh Valley Railroad Station, which was built in 1905. Now the company has expanded to six locations; the others are in Brooklyn, Buffalo, Harlem and Troy.
Why did the Rochester location make the Yelp list? If a business with multiple locations appeared on the list more than once, Yelp included the highest-rated location.
