WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB? – The best part of my job is being able to build great relationships with my students over two years and watching them grow and mature into successful young adults.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF YOUR JOB? – I have always said the two biggest challenges I face are trying to navigate through the social-emotional problems many students face while still motivating them to learn our curriculum and finding the time to figure out how to do it all.

WHAT SECRET TO SUCCESS WOULD YOU SHARE WITH STUDENTS? – Your attitude is equally as important as your ability. I really try to get my students to understand the importance of coming to class every day with a positive attitude and ready to learn.

IS TEACHING KIDS THE SAME TODAY AS WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED? – I think it is different today than when I started teaching 18 years ago because of the technology we now have in our classrooms. Technology provides our students with so many more opportunities for increased engagement, collaboration, and creativity on a daily basis.

YOUR STUDENTS WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT YOU … – I think my students know I like adventure, but I think they would be surprised to know that I have been skydiving!

WHAT IS YOUR HIDDEN TALENT? – I was a varsity swimming coach for 10 years.

IF YOU WEREN’T A TEACHER, YOU’D BE … – I would probably be a crime scene investigator. I am slightly obsessed with all the “Forensic Files,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI,” “Cold Case Files” shows.

AFTER A LONG DAY AT WORK, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO RELAX? – The best way to relax is to play a game as a family. We love playing board games, card games, Wii games, and, of course, the ultimate yard frisbee, or outdoor basketball games.
