In case you missed it, Robert Pattinson has been undergoing a fashion transformation as of late. It all started when he began the press tour for his film The Lost City of Z last winter. There was that mohair-statement-coat-and-turtleneck combination he chose in Berlin, followed by that dapper suit he wore next to FKA twigs at the premiere in London. Pattinson looked like himself, sure, but in a newly polished way that read “bad boy all grown up.” As a face of Dior Homme, Pattinson has been wearing the French label almost exclusively, and the results show off a new side of the former teen heartthrob.

His 2017 Cannes debut was no different: At a photo call for his new movie, Good Time, Pattinson suited up in a wool two-button notch lapel blazer and matching pants in midnight blue, paired with a shirt that featured a subtle textured finish. It goes without saying that everything was tailored to perfection. Where things really got interesting were the accessories. A nubby knit tie, for example, kept the suiting from feeling too formal, while the squared-off silhouette brought a fashion-forward slant to business casual. Round tinted sunglasses recalled eyewear worn by boy bands in the early aughts and, smartly, stood out in a sea of Ray-Bans. Consider him an official contender for best-dressed man at Cannes.
