Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult Are Reportedly Being Considered for the Role of “Batman”

“Welcome to the age of Battinson.”

Nick Jonas may have to put his dream of becoming Batman on hold. Casting for the forthcoming caped crusader film, set to debut in 2021, has been narrowed down, and the top choices reportedly include Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult.

According to Variety's exclusive reporting, Robert is allegedly nearing the end of discussions to star in Batman. The former Twilight actor would be replacing Ben Affleck, who had decided back in February that he wouldn't be reprising the role, Deadline reported. Although Robert has not yet secured the role, Variety reports that he is "expected to close" on a deal shortly, and that filming will start this summer.

Deadline reports that Nicholas of Skins is also being considered for the role, too. Sources with The Hollywood Reporter also allege that Armie Hammer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are contenders, too. However, Variety notes that Robert is "the top choice."

Robert also appears to be a top choice among social media, with users crossing their fingers for the future of "Battinson." Many have pointed out that Robert has come a long way since Twilight, writing, "Robert Pattinson as Batman is phenomenal casting. One of the hardest working actors today. If you've written him off, please watch Good Time and come back to me," and "Honestly Robert Pattinson as batman is one of the best castings for a while he was absolutely amazing in good time and high life."

It was also pointed out that Robert possibly landing the role could provide some great movie extras, with one person, tweeting, "if the new batman is good, then great. but if it's bad, just imagine robert pattinson's dvd commentary. it's a win win."

Until anything official is confirmed, fans will just have to wait and see. The identity of the future Batman might remain a mystery for now, but some details regarding the film have been revealed. According to Deadline, the film, directed by Matt Reeves, will focus on a much younger Bruce Wayne. According to Polygon, the film is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2021.
