Robert De Niro's Daughter Mourns Friend Paul Reubens Weeks After Her Son's Death

Robert De Niro's daughter Drena De Niro–whom he adopted after his marriage to her mother, Diahnne Abbott, in 1976–is grieving the loss of a dear friend not long after her son, Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez, 19, died.
Drena took to Instagram to share precious memories and a meaningful message in tribute to actor Paul Reubens, who passed away on July 30 after a private fight with cancer.
She posted photos of Reubens holding Leandro as a baby and smiling at the camera, along with other photos of both Reubens and her son from years past.
Drena wrote, "Darling wonderful kind genius Paul 💙 I loved you since the moment I first laid on eyes on you in Cheech & Chong’s Up in Smoke because even though I was just a kid ..Weird knows weird and you were brilliantly and beautifully weird."
"Years later we got to work together on #KennyScharf‘s #TheGroovinians, and two weird Virgos became friends till the end. Thank you for letting me part of your Big Adventure," she went on.
The 51-year-old ended her tribute with a tear-jerking note about her son and Reubens reuniting in Heaven: "Now you and Leandro can ride bicycles, build elaborate pet feeding systems & talk to the animals everyday together .Take care of each other. Heaven is lucky to have you 2 angels. Love you Buddy."
Many people shared their condolences in the comments with similar stories about how Reubens affected their lives.
"I’m so sad this intrepid human is gone but I’m grateful for the bad days he made better for so many. ❤️ sending too love Drena," read a supportive comment.
Another commended Drena's message, saying, "Beautiful tribute...what a gift that you, Leo & this unique gent were all able to play together on this plane. I loved him so & ached for the cruelty he had to pointlessly endure. What an example of humility, grace & hilarity. Rest in peace. ♥️."
Reuben's death comes only weeks after Drena lost her son Leandro, whom she shared with ex-husband Carlos Mare Rodriguez. The 19-year-old died of a drug overdose after being sold fentanyl-laced pills, and a woman has been arrested in connection with his death.
