Robert Irwin Recreates Childhood Photo With Father 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin

This memory is too sweet.

Robert Irwin is recreating a small piece of Crocodile Hunter history in his newest Instagram post.

The 19-year-old son of Steve Irwin still drives the late conservationist's truck around town, and today, April 18, he shared a photo in which he's practically mirroring his father some 16 or so years ago.

In the original shot, a toddler-aged Robert sits on his father's lap in the driver's seat of the vehicle, clenching the steering wheel tightly in his tiny hands as he seriously observes the terrain ahead.

In the second photo, Robert, now nearing the end of his teenage years, sat alone in the driver's seat, hands firmly holding the steering wheel as he looks off into the distance, much like his father. They were even dressed similarly, with Robert in his traditional khaki-colored shirt and Irwin in a green vest.

"My dad’s ute… it’s a special car. From early memories when Dad would park and let me pretend to drive, to more recently when I took my drivers test in it (and somehow managed not to stall it 😂)," he wrote in the caption, going on to share some more specific memories about the car: "I remember my first solo drive in this car after I got my license - it was to the hospital to meet my niece for the first time, right after she was born. And now, the ute still comes on road trips to this day…"

Robert also shared a third photo from when he passed the driving test, showing off a white placard with a big red "P" emblazoned on it, which stands for a P1 or provisional license—the first level in Australia.

Fans of the family were thrilled to see the truck in seemingly good condition after all these years.

"I love that you drive your dad’s car ❤️," one wrote.

"The only dynasty that matters ❤️," said another.

"That’s pretty special mate. Would have felt like you were bringing the old man with you to meet the newest Irwin 🤍," another commented.

Robert's sister Bindi also passed her driving test in the "ute"—which stands for utility vehicle—sharing a similar photo proudly showing off her provisional license plate several years ago.
