No hyperbole here: Drunk Elephant’s gold-hued niacinamide serum is one of my all-time favorite skincare products. And that’s because, in addition to offering long-term benefits like a reduction in hyperpigmentation, its same-day benefits are also profound: B-Goldi Bright Drops make your skin radiant. Again, no hyperbole.

You could drown yourself in bourbon on a red-eye flight and not get a wink of sleep, and an application of B-Goldi would make your skin look like living marble. For that reason, I prefer to only use it in the morning, when other people can see its benefits, too.

This serum blends cleanly onto your skin, so there’s no concern about transferring it to your clothes or other fabrics. In other words, it offers the benefits of a tinted moisturizer without all the worrying over whether it’ll rub off on your favorite sweater.

The B in B-Goldi refers to the serum’s power player, niacinamide, a B vitamin. Niacinamide brightens your complexion by reducing dark spots, including stubborn sunspots and hyperpigmentation; you’ll get optimal results in formulas with a 5 percent or greater ingredient concentration. It tends to be well suited for all skin types, and even plays nice with a wide swath of other actives. If you use a vitamin C serum during the day, fret not: it layers well with niacinamide, making these drops a versatile and compatible addition to most skincare regimens.

And Drunk Elephant’s formula also packs ingredients that compare to those of skin-brightening Vitamin C: Diglucosyl gallic acid and morus alba leaf extract prevent excess melanin production and inhibit hyperpigmentation. The former provides ample antioxidant benefits to reduce the skin-aging impact of UV rays and other environmental toxins.

One little pocket-sized vessel should last you a couple of months, because you only need a small drop every day. The drops can be a little dense, so I like to mix them with a hydrating serum to make sure that I get a nice even coat across my mug. Then, I follow with vitamin C (not necessary, but always a great choice—by the way, Drunk Elephant’s mix-it-yourself vitamin C serum is one of the best-guaranteed-fresh options you can get, and also one of my go-to’s for that key ingredient.)

Just like a “good hair day” can boost your confidence ahead of a meeting or a date, so too can a serum like this. Nobody will have any clue that you’re wearing a gold-hued serum, since it gives such a clean and non-transferrable application. But they will notice that you’re radiant—and the compliments will start rolling in.
