Rob Kardashian Discusses Daughter Dream's Heritage on KUWTK

His comments were pretty problematic.

In a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Rob Kardashian made a few comments about his daughter, Dream, that definitely raised some eyebrows. The episode, which was filmed before Dream was born, shows Rob discussing the feelings and emotions of becoming a new father...but some of his words were a bit troubling.

When asked by Khloé if he's scared of being a dad, Rob simply responds by saying, "I can't wait to have an Armenian baby." In turn, Khloé says, "And probably a little bit black," reminding him that he's not the only one responsible for Dream: Blac Chyna is the baby's mother.

However, instead of acknowledging this point, Rob replies by saying, "It's gonna be an Armenian baby" and later adds, "Let's not make this a race war."

To be clear, it's not a "race war" to point out facts. And while Rob has every right to be proud of his own heritage, he should be able to do so without erasing the other half of Dream's background at the same time. (Moreover, for Khloé to say that people are "a little bit" of one ethnicity or another is pretty reductive, too. Your identity should not be compartmentalized as "more" or "less" of any one culture or race.) Dream should be able to grow up knowing the facts about her heritage, and she should be able to celebrate every aspect of what makes her who she is. Hopefully Rob has come to a different point of view on this topic now that Dream has been born.
