RM of BTS Just Brought Back a Fan-Favorite Hair Color

Along with K-pop group BTS dropping a new song called "Dynamite" on August 21 comes brand-new hairstyles for the members. All the new looks were revealed in the teaser photos that came out on Monday: Most of the septet stuck with natural shades of black and brown, but leader RM shocked fans with a brilliant teal dye job (as seen above).

After the teasers were posted, RM shared a selfie on BTS' Twitter, and it was liked over a million times in less than 24 hours. I appreciate how his colored contacts are a near-perfect match to his hair.

This isn't the first time RM has experimented with the bright hue. He's dabbled in the world of blue hair several times since BTS debuted in 2013 (as have his fellow members Jimin, Suga, and V). Some even call him “Blue Joon” (based on his real name Namjoon) during these blue periods because of it. The nickname ended up trending on Twitter after Monday's big reveal.

For about a month in 2015, RM tried out a sky blue color. His true blue hair debut arrived with the 화양연화 (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life): Young Forever album a year later. At the time, RM's cut was shorter on the sides and longer on the top, but it had a similar sea glass blue hue he has at the moment. It quickly became a beloved look. He later brought back the blue with a deep charcoal tone in 2018 for the “Idol” music video and an ashy pastel shade in 2019.

Needless to say, we're looking forward to seeing RM's latest blue dye job in action in BTS' new music video when it's released next week.
