Riverdale Stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart Have Reportedly Split

Riverdale costars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have reportedly ended their relationship after almost two years of dating.

According to Us Weekly, the two were "rarely seen" together while attending Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con party in San Diego on July 21. Multiple sources confirmed the breakup to the outlet. Us Weekly added that Cole allegedly told a friend that same night that he and Lili had split.

The couple attended the annual Met Gala together in May, one year after making their Met Gala debut as a couple, in 2018. The two also appeared on a Riverdale panel together at Comic-Con, and as recently as July 22, Cole appeared on Lili's Instagram Story.

Rumors started in 2017 about Cole and Lili dating, though both remained relatively tight-lipped on the matter. In April 2018 they were spotted in Paris being affectionate. Soon after, paparazzi asked about their relationship status, which they avoided answering. In the year to follow, they opened up somewhat about their relationship, with Cole talking about their road-trip date in March.

Whether or not the relationship has officially come to an end, it's best to allow them their privacy. Cole put it like this back when the rumors started about their relationship: "I just never talk about it because it's not anyone's right to know."

Coincidentally, the reported breakup comes just as their onscreen characters, Jughead and Betty, might be facing problems in their relationship in Riverdale's season four. At Comic-Con, Cole said of their fictional counterparts, "I think it might be a little bit tense. They might fall, turn away from each other, only to come back together way stronger. I think they're gonna be really good."

Hey, at least we'll (hopefully) still have Bughead.
