Is Riverdale ending?

Yes: In May 2022, The CW confirmed that Season 7 would be the last installment of Riverdale. Given that the network simultaneously canceled Katy Keene and Netflix previously scrapped The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in 2020, the announcement meant the end of the "Archieverse." Sad? Sure. But take heart: Creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa promises a riveting season ahead.

"I'm really excited about Season 7," he told Collider last July. "And though it is not what I originally imagined, it's kind of perfect. It's totally surprising, and yet completely inevitable, so I'm really excited." So, more witches? Fresh zombies?

What happened in Riverdale Season 6?

Riverdale's sixth installment featured more supernatural and fantastical elements than ever. To start, the season introduced viewers to super-villain Percival Pickens (Chris O'Shea), a sorcerer who made a deal with the devil for immortality. Using his powers for evil, Pickens, who hails from Riverdale, sent a comet headed straight for his home town—and, no, the residents couldn't leave, because there was a magical barrier preventing them from doing so. (This show is n-u-t-s.)

Thankfully, Cheryl used her own powers to destroy the comet, but whatever move she did sent the town straight back to the 1950s, with only Jughead remembering life in the Before Times.

The good news is we'll get to see the gang as teenagers again. But does that spell a fresh start for them—or fresh hell?

Is the entire Riverdale cast returning for Season 7?

Every year there are rumors that someone is leaving the Riverdale cast, and every once in a while, those rumors turn out to be true. Mark Consuelos, who played Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge, departed the series after Season 5, for example.

Thankfully, the final season of Riverdale will see the return of all of its series regulars, including the Core Four (Sprouse, Reinhart, Mendes and Apa); Petsch; Mächen Amick as Alice Cooper; Casey Cott as Kevin Keller; Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle; Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz; Drew Ray Tanner as Fangs Fogarty; and Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate.
