"Riverdale" Releases New Season 3 Promo Trailer at 2018 Comic-Con
The third season of Riverdale now feels closer than ever. At Comic-Con 2018, the Riverdale cast joined together to drop major hints about the upcoming season and premiere a brand-new teaser trailer with some intel about what we can expect come Oct. 10.
The trailer hints that season 3 will pick up several months after the end of season 2, which, if you'll recall, ended with Archie's arrest. Back from what Archie calls "the worst summer ever," Archie just wants everyone to have a "normal," picturesque Labor Day weekend, driving his new car and playing in the river. But things are from normal: mystery is afoot in the town of pep. And it starts literally in Betty's backyard, where she witnesses a cult ritual that shows Polly and their mother Alice lifting up Polly's twin babies above a bonfire.
The cast provided even more insight into The CW show's third season, with Lili Reinhart expounding on that creepy cult scene. Per TV Line, Lili said that during the summer, Betty took an internship to "distract herself." She added, "Alice and Polly kind of attack her. Their new, weird spirituality with the farm makes them tell her that she needs to listen to her soul and confront her problems. So Betty wants to stay far, far away from them.”
Meanwhile, newly broke Veronica will be working hard for her money. Camila Mendes talked about the character's arc in season 3, saying, "Veronica’s going to be like an entrepreneur... She needs to make her own money, and so she’s working at Pop’s, just hustling. We’ll show that she’s not a spoiled, rich girl. She’s trying to prove herself to everybody.”
Other highlights? Jughead's sister Jellybean will be coming to Riverdale along with Juggy's mother, which show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said will happen around episode 8 or 9. Kevin and Moose will "be a thing," according to Casey Cott. And finally — we're going to get to experience yet another epic musical episode. Whew, is it October yet??
