"Riverdale" and "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" Are Finally Getting a Crossover But It’s Not What You Think
It's finally happening! The long-awaited Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover is finally here, but it's not probably not what you're expecting.
In the new issue in the Archie Comics series, Sabrina has now crossed over to Riverdale and she will be helping out Archie and the gang after someone goes missing in Riverdale.
"She’s going to shake Riverdale up in a major way! When a character as classic and iconic as Sabrina comes to town, you know it has to have a big impact," writer Nick Spencer told MTV News.
This new storyline is considered a small reboot of the series, which will continue to follow Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica around Riverdale. It's also not a part of the current Riverdale comics storyline, but with the same characters and a mystery that's plaguing the town, it certainly feels like it.
So far, it's not clear how long Sabrina will be joining the Riverdale gang in the comics series, but it's good to see that a crossover between the two shows is not completely out of the question.
Fans hoping for a crossover in the live-action series will have to wait a while for it to happen. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, creator of both shows, has been open about the possibility of a crossover between the two shows after Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has established its own audience.
"I would hate if there was no way possible for there ever to be a crossover," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I think there’d be a great episode where the Riverdale kids hear about a haunted house in Greendale and try to break in and it’s Sabrina’s house. There’s totally a universe where that happens."
Here's hoping it happens soon! Until then, at least we have the comics to keep us excited!
