Rita Wilson wished her husband Tom Hanks a happy birthday in an open letter to the actor that's so honest and sincere that it may just bring tears to your eyes.

The message was shared to Wilson's Instagram grid on Sunday, July 9, alongside a photo of the award-winning actor and producer smiling for the camera with his arms crossed against his chest.

"Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children," she began in the caption.

The Sleepless in Seattle actress continued, sweetly describing the most intimate parts of the couple's relationship as well as all the reasons she cherishes her husband.

"He loves a typewriter just slightly less than me, 😂( why is there no typewriter emoji?) invents cocktails like Diet Cokecaine ( Diet Coke mixed with Champagne) or a Cokearita( Diet Coke mixed with margarita) , DJs regularly on @bossradio66 , is happiest being surround by his family and friends," also noting that he "has committed to telling the stories of veterans and has created his own coffee brand supporting veterans, @givehanx Hanx for our Troops."

Wilson and Hanks met on the set of the 1981 sitcom Bosom Buddies, but it wasn't until they reunited four years later in 1985’s Volunteers that Hanks admitted to feeling sparks. The couple made their red carpet debut in Dec. 1986, married in 1988, and later welcomed two sons: Chet Hanks and Truman Hanks. Hanks also fathered two children–Colin Hanks and Elizabeth Ann Hanks–with his former high school sweetheart and ex-wife, the late Samantha Lewes.
