Rita Ora is putting on her entrepreneurial cap.

The multihyphenate (She sings! She acts! She's in fashion!) is now officially a beauty brand founder with the launch of Typebea, a performance-driven haircare line available April 18. Created alongside beauty pro Anna Lahey — the founder of Vida Glow and now one of Ora's close friends — Typebea is designed with hair growth and hair health in mind.

The two founders, who spent three years developing the four core products, have both experienced hair loss and hair damage, so that was the impetus for Typebea years ago. For Ora specifically, she tells PEOPLE that she's put her hair through the wringer, and she knows it's been fried.

"I was doing anything for the look, and I was almost like not even caring about hair health," she says of her hair before she met Lahey at a Vida Glow event in Australia in 2021. "It's part of my creativity, it's part of my identity as an artist. I love changing up my hair and I'd do anything to commit to a look. But the more I was in the industry, the more I realized all this constant changing of color was just horrible and I didn't have any hair left."

It was that fateful meeting in 2021 that started everything. The two women hit it off, got to talking, and realized that they had a bigger idea about hair health.

"We really bonded over hair," Lahey tells PEOPLE. "And I could tell she really wanted to start her own brand."

"Her hair is always shiny!" Ora says with a laugh, referring to Lahey's hair. "It's always so good and glossy and I wanted to know what she was doing. It was the [Vida Glow ingestibles] but she said there was something missing. That's where it began with coming up with a formula to create hair health within everyday life."

Over the next three years, Lahey and Ora worked painstakingly to create, test, recreate, retest and eventually settle on the four products that would be their "heroes." And their biggest goal was for everything to be inclusive.

"It has been dermatologically tested on all different hair types," Lahey says. "What I mean by that is whether you have curly or coily hair or you have platinum blonde hair, and everything in between. I have extremely oily hair. I wash my hair every single day. Rita has a completely different type of hair than mine. She washes twice a week. It works for both of us the same way."

The four products launching April 18 are:

  • G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide ($52): A leave-in growth serum made of three peptides that Lahey notes those in their clinical studies saw results from after using just one 100mL bottle. It's also water-based rather than oil-based, which Ora says "doesn't leave any residue."

  • G2 Strength + Length Shampoo ($26): A salicylic acid-based shampoo that Lahey says "gently exfoliates" the scalp to slough off any debris or product buildup.

  • G3 Strength + Length Conditioner ($26): A plant-based keratin-infused conditioner that won't weigh down your hair and will support hair growth.

  • G4 Hydra-Gloss Treatment ($33): A hydrating mask with hyaluronic acid to add shine and hydration. "It's got everything you need to have this really gorgeous gloss in literally three minutes," Ora says.

The hero ingredient across all four products is Baicapil™, an active that has been shown to stimulate hair growth, improve hair density and reduce hair loss in three months.

These products are only the beginning for Typebea, both Ora and Lahey tease. Both women are passionate about this new brand they've created and they have big ideas for where they're going next (and the work they've poured into it so far).

They know they want to target more hair concerns and want to do a styling range, but beyond that, their ideas are under lock and key.

Ora admits, though, that her fans have already been asking for the products in travel size — even though they've barely launched! So that might just be next on the list for Typebea as well.

But right now, Ora and Lahey are focusing on their "baby" — the hero line, which is available to shop on Typebea now.
