Rihanna Took NYFW’s Hottest Street Style Shoe to the Airport
If there was one shoe that ruled street style during New York Fashion Week, it was Bottega Veneta’s padded sandal. The square-toed mule with puffy matelassé quilting struck a chord with editors and influencers alike—outpacing flip flops, peep-toe boots, and even Tevas as the week’s best-loved footwear. But even if their popularity hasn't gone unnoticed, this morning they received the ultimate endorsement: a Rihanna airport style moment.
Headed to Seoul for the latest of her Fenty Beauty masterclasses, Rihanna wore a camo print sweater from Miu Miu, a crossbody Louis Vuitton multi-pochette, and the Daniel Lee-designed heels as she breezed through John F. Kennedy International Airport. Impossibly chic, yet comfortable enough to survive a 14-hour flight, her statement footwear was the perfect finish to an otherwise cozy, casual look.
This also isn’t the first time Rihanna has embraced the new Bottega: among the first to wear the brand’s covetable pouch, she helped turn the piece into an instant it-bag. Whether she’ll have the same effect on this heel style remains to be seen—but there's no denying that RiRi wears them like nobody else.
