Rihanna Just Announced Her Autobiography

Rihanna is a true multi-hyphenate: singer, actress, designer, beauty mogul. And soon, she will be able to add “author” to her already long list of career highs. Today, the superstar announced that she will be releasing a new “visual autobiography” in partnership with Phaidon. The large-format book, simply titled Rihanna and set to publish on October 24, will feature never-before-seen images that follow her life’s electric journey. Beginning with her childhood in Barbados, it will also document her rise as a worldwide pop star, including special imagery from tours, private moments with friends and family, and much more.

Per Rihanna, the project has been “over five years in the making,” she wrote on Instagram, adding that she is “happy to finally share this collection of incredible memories. Thank you to all of the photographers and artists that contributed and to @phaidonsnaps for working with me to publish my first piece of art in a new industry!” A short video clip shared on the social media platform showcases a sneak peek at some of the images that will be included, including Rihanna walking the red carpet at the Met Gala, among other moments.

The book is available for preorder and retails for $150. The hardcover features 504 pages and 1,050 color images, making it more of a coffee-table book than a traditional autobiography. (It also weighs 15 pounds.) In addition to the classic hardcover, three special-edition styles are available as well: the Fenty x Phaidon version features a custom “This Sh*t Is Heavy bookstand,” while the Luxury Supreme and Ultra Luxury Supreme versions have custom tabletop bookstands as well, and are even signed by Bad Gal Riri herself.

The Ultra Luxury Supreme edition is unfortunately sold out—Rolling Stone reports that Cardi B bid on, and won, it at Rihanna’s Diamond Ball this year—but the Luxury Supreme is available for a cool $5,500. Start saving those pennies.
