Rihanna's name is on everyone's lips these days—and, unsurprisingly, she has the pout to match. The multi-hyphenate's Savage x Fenty Show—shot during New York Fashion Week—aired last week on Amazon Prime, the presentation at once subverting the arena of contemporary lingerie and the fashion show format in general. And last night, RiRi continued on her mission to up the ante on aesthetics with a two-part selfie series featuring a cheeky piece from her collection and a makeup look to match.
Along with a peek at a bra featuring embroidered clouds, blue puckered lips, and the apt descriptor, "Cute," Rihanna's post featured a monochromatic moment that proved hot pink may be the perfect present-tense answer to classic crimson. At eye-level, a gaze-encasing diffusion of fuchsia extended into a graphic wing, the shape echoed by a kittenish flick of black eyeliner. Cheeks swirled with a similar shade gave way to a lip daubed and overdrawn in a saturated pink, the whole thing framed by Rihanna’s onyx mane, blown out in more conventional bombshell guise. It seems that the time is right to turn long-accepted style expressions on their heads—and if you want to start small, a simple switch of shade is an easy, effective option.
