Rihanna Dazzles at the Grammys in an Adam Selman Dress Studded With 275,000 Crystals
Singer Rihanna picked up one of the first awards of the 2018 Grammy Awards in a glossy couture look by designer Adam Selman.
Another hour, another great Rihanna outfit. After spending the afternoon in Grammys rehearsals wearing a Norma Kamali puffer and vintage Dolce & Gabbana corset combination, the star was ready to unveil something new once it came time for the ceremony to start. She skipped the red carpet and headed straight to her seat at Madison Square Garden, dressed in a glossy maroon number from Alexandre Vauthier’s latest couture collection, to watch Kendrick Lamar perform a medley from his album Damn. Combining a plunging neckline, cinched waist, and matching shiny boots into one package, the distinctive look was a bold choice that demanded attention even without the paparazzi present.
More than simply looking good, the outfit proved a good luck charm. Rihanna took home the evening’s first award for Best Rap/Sung performance with Lamar for their song “Loyalty,” adding a ninth Grammy to her trophy case. She rounded out the night by taking to the stage for a second time to sing “Wild Thoughts” with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller in a custom Adam Selman look with a flamenco flair. Hot pink and covered in more than 275,000 crystals, it sparkled throughout the dance break. She enlisted the help of florist Josh Werber for beautiful hair adornments that managed to make the full look sing. Shining in three divergent ensembles over the course of one night, Rihanna’s ever-evolving Grammys looks were proof that the ongoing collaboration between her and stylist Mel Ottenberg remains one of fashion’s most exciting.
