Rihanna Celebrates 30 With the World’s Cheekiest T-Shirt
The day before you hit 30 is its own celebration. Those final hours of your 20s provide one last chance to get in a few youthful indiscretions—or if you’re Rihanna, an opportunity to poke fun at the whole process. Before turning 30 today, the star took to Instagram Stories to show off one last wild outfit: an “I hate Rihanna” T-shirt from Norwegian artist Bjorne Melgaard’s exhibition, The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment. A commentary on fashion’s self-destructive elements, Melgaard’s work critiques some of the industry’s obsessions, including Rihanna. With the words “don’t trust anyone under 30” scrawled across the front, the look challenge’s the collective focus on youth culture. But seen on the back of the very artist it is namedropping, the shirt becomes a cheeky style moment.
The caption read “last day to make a bad decision and blame it on my 20s,” and Rihanna kept the mood light by throwing on a pair of bubble sunglasses, hoop earrings, and a vibrant red lip. Later, she added a video pointing out that she still has teensy bit of time left as a 20-something, before her pal, Jennifer Rosales chimed in with a loud “not for long!” The friendly reminder may have been in jest, but as Rihanna moves into the next phase of her life as a businesswoman, performer, and artist one thing is clear—there will plenty of epic fashion moments ahead.
