Rihanna Was a Bridesmaid in a Wedding and She Dodged the Bouquet Toss
RiRi was there to serve–not to catch. This weekend, R&B superstar Rihanna spent some quality time in Barbados to be a bridesmaid in the wedding of one of her close friends, Sonita Alexander.
The Ocean’s 8 actress and eight-time Grammy winner posted a few inside moments with the bride the morning of the wedding as the group got ready in the suite. When the time arrived for the ceremony itself, the singer was perfectly present and ready to execute her duties.
Footage from inside the nuptials shows the “Wild Thoughts” hitmaker—with her tresses pulled back in a sleek, no-frills, low ponytail—dressed in a sapphire blue gown featuring ruffled cap sleeves like the rest of her fellow bridal party members. As the bride and groom made their way down a gold mirrored aisle, the Fenty Beauty founder dutifully stepped back in a choreographed motion like the rest of the wedding party members.

However, one of the viral moments to emerge from the nuptials was from the reception itself. A bystander captured a gaggle of guests, including the bridesmaids, lined up with hopes to catch the bouquet on the dance floor. The singer, however, stood in the back and intentionally dodged the opportunity to even catching the bouquet as seen in the footage.

This wasn’t Ri’s first time serving as a bridesmaid. She had some initial practice in April 2015, when she was also in the bridal party a friend’s nuptials in Hawaii.
Alexander, a physician, is one of the singer’s oldest pals.
