Riders Prepare For A Week On The World's Biggest Jump Line

Wheels are officially on the ground in Stellenbosch, South Africa as riders and builders prepare for Darkfest, the yearly big air event hosted on the world's largest jumps.

Theo Erlangsen, one of the course designers got first tracks on the course this year as he tested the famous step up cannon in preparation for the official event next week.

Take a look at his inaugural run below.

It looks like the builders may have a bit of touch up work to do on this beast before it's ready for mass consumption. The winter rains appear to have left some hefty ruts in some of the features.

With a course of this scale, it is of the utmost importance that everything be in perfect and predictable working order for every rider's safety. These features are absolutely massive and no one riding this line wants there to be any surprises when they roll up to send it.

Speaking of the lineup, this year's is far more diverse than it has been in the past with even more women being invited to come send the line. There are plenty of fresh faces on the men's side as well, and even some familiar ones returning after quite long hiatuses. It will be very cool to see this diverse mix of riders blend together and hopefully bring a whole new perspective to one of the most insane courses ever built.
