Rider Smashes Bike Attempting Viral Wheely Trick

A popular trend in mountain biking is to remove the front axle and do a wheely. When this happens, the front wheel rolls along while the rider uses only the rear wheel.

In rare instances, a rider has managed to land back on the wheel. Far more frequently, however, the rider lands heavily on the front end. Watch one rider continually bash his fork below attempting the viral trick.

In this video that was released by Fezzari, a rider in a warehouse pops a wheely without the front axle. Unfortunately, he was not prepared and came down heavily on his fork. On attempt 2, his wheel fell over and he tripped on it. Finally, the rider managed to ride off successfully sans wheel

Either way, with hard landings like that on the lowers, I hope his rebound setting was where he wanted it. Though forks are designed to take a beating, they are not designed to hit the ground like that.

Hopefully, this rider did no internal damage to the fork with a fall like that.
