Rider Causes Jealousy By Showing Off The Southern Hemisphere Summer
One of the great injustices in mountain biking is the seasonal variation caused by Earth’s axial tilt. While most of us are shivering under blankets in the pitch black at 4:30 PM, people across the equator are having the time of their lives.

In this video, Monro rides down some pristine dirt in New Zealand’s Coronet Peak Bike Park. He wops a corner and gets stylish on the smaller jumps.
As the southern hemisphere nears its summer solstice, the sun in Queenstown sets at around 9:30 pm. The long days are for long adventure rides or endless bike park days. This seasonal switch has many pros traveling south to capitalize on the good riding.

Jim Monro is no different. Monro is a downhill racer from the UK. He races in World Cups, where his best result was 50th.
Coronet Peak is a unique bike park. The park is located just outside of Queenstown, New Zealand, and most of it is above treeline, making for the stunning vistas from the park.
The coolest part of Coronet however is that the base of the park is about 2000 feet above town, and there is trail access all the way down. Even though there are only three full-length trails up at the bike park, riders can end their day with multiple routes back to town. The resort also offers a shuttle service to the bike park so none of the group has to draw the short straw and drive down.
