Rick Riordan is not shying away about how he feels about the Percy Jackson film series.

The YA book author took to Twitter to answer some fan questions after one of the them asked him about a censored scene on Disney+ in Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

"I don't know, but clearly it's a mistake. They should censor the entire thing. Just two hours of blank screen," he wrote back.

When a friend pointed out that it was nice to see that he was also not a fan of the movies, a sentiment shared by many fans, he opened up more about why he doesn't enjoy them.

"Well, to you guys, it's a couple hours entertainment. To me, it's my life's work going through a meat grinder when I pleaded with them not to do it. So yeah. But it's fine. All fine. We're gonna fix it soon," he said.

Rick has made it clear over the years that he has never seen the movies, although, he did point out that he read the scripts and didn't agree with them.

"Finally, I still have not seen the movies, and don't plan on ever doing so. I judge them from having read the scripts, because I care most about the story," he continued. "I certainly have nothing against the very talented actors. Not their fault. I'm just sorry they got dragged into that mess."

Later on, he reiterated his point by saying, "Trashy scripts can never end up being *great* films."

He also said that after reading the scripts, he ended up donating all the money he received for the movie rights to charity.

"Said this before, too, but you would be surprised how little most authors get paid by Hollywood for their rights, especially if they are unknown, like I was. All money I got from Fox, I donated to charity when it became clear how things were going."

Rick Riordan recently announced that Disney+ has put in an order for a Percy Jackson series and that he will be working on it with the streaming giant. A release date hasn't been announced, but it will certainly be worth the wait!
