Rick and Morty have had multiple Christmas-themed episodes before, and sadly they haven't dropped another whole festive episode last minute to make the wait for season 5 more bearable, but there is a cool little new animation.

In the 15-second promo, animator Richard Plata re-imagines Rick as Ebeneezer Scrooge settling in for the night, when he is visited by the Ghosts of Morty Past, Morty Present, Morty Future and, uhhh, Jacob Morty? We'll go with that.

But the references don't stop at The Muppet Christmas Carol, as things go all Ghostbusters as Rick hoovers up the spirits and gets on with his night, learning not a single thing about The Joy of Christmas.

The show's creator Dan Harmon recently revealed that, because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, production on the fifth season is actually ahead of schedule. We all thought that people were less productive working from home, but clearly not in this case.

As well as season 5, it's been confirmed that at a sequel to the fan-favorite Samurai & Shogun short, a little anime that saw Samurai Rick killing a load of Ninja Rick before walking into a portal, is on the way.

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim in the US, while in the UK it can be found on E4 and All 4, as well as Netflix, which just released season 4B, in fact.
