Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva Are Expecting a Baby!
Richard Gere is about to become a father for the second time! The iconic actor, who just celebrated his 69th birthday on August 31, is expecting a baby with wife Alejandra Silva. And before they announced the happy news, they sought blessings from none other than the Dalai Lama.
Silva, a 35-year-old Spanish publicist and humanitarian, confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself and her husband meeting the Dalai Lama in Rotterdam on Sunday, September 16.
The snap shows the Dalai Lama and the parents-to-be touching Silva’s stomach. “A very special moment just a few minutes ago,” she captioned the photo in both Spanish and English. “Getting blessings for our precious to come… We couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama.”
The Pretty Woman actor and his love, who knew each other for over a decade before starting to date in 2014, are not new to parenting. Gere has one son, 18-year-old Homer James Jigme Gere, with model Carey Lowell. Silva also has a son, five-year-old Albert Friedland, with her first husband, Govind Friedland. She and Gere married in a low-key civil ceremony back in April.
