Richard Branson's Virgin Voyages Cruises Are Officially Open for Booking — and You Need to See the Beach Club

If anyone knows how to pump us up for cruising, it’s Richard Branson.

The serial entrepreneur has been busy over the last few months teasing out the launch of his latest venture, Virgin Voyages. Over that time we learned a bit about the cruise itself (it’s adults-only, high-end, and pure luxury), the rooms (hello, suites!), and the food on board (passengers will truly get a taste of the world over).

And now, the time has finally come. Today, Feb. 14, marks the first day cruisers — known as “sailors” on Virgin Voyages — can book a getaway on its first ship, the Scarlet Lady, which sets sail on April 1. Travelers can also book cruises through October 25, 2020.

“I’ve dreamed of starting my own cruise line since I was in my 20s, and now the launch is finally getting close,” Branson said in a statement. “We have taken the time to think about every detail and craft an experience that brings the Virgin brand to life and disrupts the travel industry.”

While the booking announcement is certainly exciting, Branson took it a step further by announcing several more stellar updates including the fact that all Virgin Voyages will feature The Beach Club, a Virgin Voyages experience in Bimini, Bahamas. At the club, sailors can enjoy one perfect beach day, or explore the island instead.

On board the vessel, the company announced, sailors will also get access to completely original events developed by some of the world’s most talented creators.

“From modern takes on classic stories to interactive dance parties and off-the-wall participatory acts, the experiences will break down the fourth wall and push the boundaries of traditional stage performances,” Virgin reps shared in a statement. “Virgin Voyages’ entertainment that goes beyond Broadway with first run, experiences that have never been seen before on land or at sea.”

But, perhaps best of all, the company announced sailors could have the opportunity to travel with Branson himself for his epic birthday bash. Guests are invited to book a four-night journey on its Havana After Dark voyage departing July 15, 2020.
