In last week's episode of the new (and improved?) Real Housewives of New York City, the six new cast members continued their girl's trip to the Hamptons with a steamy backyard workout, drama over shakshuka and squabbling over sleeping arrangements. The fairly low stakes trip, however, culminated in a NSFW game of Two Truths and a Lie that revealed the RHONY women will have sex almost anywhere. This week, in Episode 4, the housewives returned to the city just in time for a lavish friendsgiving.

Here's everything that happened in RHONY Season 14, Episode 4:

Chekov's shakshuka

After hearing about Erin Lichy's shakshuka for three weeks, the saucy egg dish finally made its appearance on the final morning of the Hamptons trip to her (freezing cold, non-ocean front, food deprived) house. With the exception of Sai De Silva (who has a lot of food-related opinions it would seem), the women scarfed it down while we were treated to another round of "these women are weird" antics. Jenna Lyons decided to show up to breakfast where dozens of diamond bangles, Ubah Hassan eats with a knife rather than a fork, and Brynn Whitfield climbed in a baby crib the night before. To no one's surprise Jenna is also highly sensitive to onions.

At breakfast, the usually chipper Brynn, however, does begin to share her heartbreaking backstory. She grew up in Indiana and raised by her grandmother without much money or support. She doesn't really have a relationship with her family, and so remains close with her three ex-fiance's and their families (including one she says has a 20% chance of marrying her.) With the holidays looming, however, the threat of emotions is baring down.

After the shakshuka (which Sai didn't like), Jessel Taank confesses that she can't wait to leave, and the women head back into the city. No one seemed to have had a good time and Sai demands a stop at Provisions on the way home for real food.

Girls about town

Back in the big apple, we get a fairly mundane round robin of scenes depicting the women in their daily life. Here's a quick breakdown of what we learned:

  • Erin works in real estate and can speak a little bit of Spanish.

  • Brynn goes to the hair salon once a week and connected with her Blackness growing up at a beauty salon. In her 40's she's gonna let her hair be curlier.

  • Ubah has a line of hot sauces and misses her mom. She's anxious about pitching the hot sauces to investors.

  • Sai has a lovely husband.

  • Jessel wants to send her infants to an expensive Montessori pre-school, because social status starts young, but her husband wants to save money and send them to public school.

  • Erin's children throw sticky hands at her ceiling and owns a mug shaped like a boob.

  • Jenna has seen boobs.

We also learn during a visit from Jenna to see Erin, that Jessel called Erin and Sai "cackling hags." Jenna (who tells us she definitely wasn't trying to star drama) just confesses this out of the blue. OBVIOUSLY Erin is offended.

Brynnsgiving

In a fairly shocking display of magnanimity coming from Mrs. I Hate Your Shakshuka, Sai decides to host a friendsgiving that she has dubbed "Brynnsgiving" in order to cheer up Brynn during the holidays. Unfortunately for Brynn, the catering staff is made up of married men, who appear to be cooking a menu that involves no actual thanksgiving foods. The women arrive in their finery and are immediately told to take off their shoes (which doesn't rub Erin the right way, and is yet another indicator of a brewing Sai vs. Erin blowup). Jessel, as socially awkward as ever despite her husband's reminder that she needs to work on her tone, also slights Erin with weird comments regarding Erin's grandmother's memorial service. Erin also brings up Jessel's comment about "cackling hags" to Ubah, who doesn't understand either of those words and somehow thinks it relates to male genitalia.

As the women sit down for dinner, however, Brynn, who clearly just wants to have a good time, is put on the spot and asked about her traumatic childhood. In one of the most heartbreaking moments of the show, she tearfully explains the neglect and abuse that she experienced as a child. She breaks down as the other women start crying as well, and can't even speak about the moment in confessional. "The two people who were supposed to love me didn't, or couldn't," she says. It's on this sad, gut-wrenching note that a "to be continued" flashes on screen. We'll have to wait for Episode 5 to see how Brynnsgiving ends.
