RH Just Introduced 18 Outdoor Collections...and Patio Season Has Never Looked More Stylish

If you’ve ever longed for the chic alfresco setup at a beautiful hotel (or perhaps one pictured on our pages), that dream is just a few clicks away from becoming a reality. RH just debuted 18 new collections of outdoor furniture in a sourcebook that’s stunning enough to display on your coffee table.

So what’s hiding inside this tome? A wide array of upholstered, all-weather wicker, teak, aluminum, and reeded rattan patio and pool furniture in cohesive collections, many of which are designed by some of the biggest names in the design world. RH is known for their incredible collaborations, and this year’s launch is certainly no exception.

Ranging from streamlined and Spanish-inspired to mountain vibes and contemporary, the launch includes two brand-new collaborations that especially caught our eye.

First up, a major East Coast-West Coast mashup: California-based RH has teamed up with North Carolina-based Alex Bernhardt Jr., a heavyweight in the furniture business as the fourth generation Bernhardt leading the family’s 134-year-old Bernhardt Furniture Company, to introduce “Lindon,” a collection of teak lounge, dining, and pool seating and tables available in two finishes, natural and aged.

Bernhardt says this collection was conceived on a trip to Mykonos, “where the architecture is very minimalistic and modern, but often paired with more organic furnishings.” To bring warmth to the Lindon collection, he added a textured finish to the frame. He says, “I personally believe that the most beautiful part of wood is the inherent grain pattern, and we often wire brush or sandblast the substrate to make the grain more tactile. Depth of finish and grain is very appealing to me; we stay away from flat finishes.”

With its solid teak frame and handwoven, all-weather rope accents, including a tonal pattern on the chair backs that calls to mind early 20th century rush and timber pieces, the collection marries artisan detailing and durability with a hint of rustic nostalgia—and will look as at home for après ski gatherings in the Adirondacks as it will for sunset soirees in Oregon wine country. Simple, French mattress pad-style cushions finish the seating with casual sophistication (you won’t find any fussy button tufting here!).

Warm natural texture also reigns in RH’s second new design collaboration. Isabel Rojo and Victor Segarra, the Spanish duo behind About Design Studio and rising stars on the European architecture and design scene, are bringing their Mediterranean sensibility to the luxury retail furniture market with their transportive RH collection “Nusa.” Available in two teak finishes (weathered and natural) and two aluminum finishes (bronze and iron), Rojo and Segarra note that their creations were inspired by traditional basket-weaving techniques in Mediterranean villages.

“There is something about the basket that fascinates us, as an object that is both functional and decorative—and something that has remained largely unchanged in its form and material for centuries, yet still finds a place in homes all over the world,” say Rojo and Segarra. “For us, they evoke a feeling of warmth and home.”

The collection, which includes lounge, dining, and pool seating, features curved backs constructed of all-weather wicker and rounded legs with a slight taper. Discerning observers will note the nod to Danish mid twentieth century designer Hans Wegner “with a Mediterranean spirit,” say Rojo and Segarra.

RH’s diverse 2024 outdoor launch has something for every design lover, host or tastemaker—including fresh designs from existing partners like Nicholas and Harrison Condos, who dreamed up the reeded solid teak Byron, sleek, tubular Palma, and retro-cool rattan Bondi collections, among others; and Claudio Bellini, who aces the curvy seating design trend that his father, Mario, helped pioneer with his iconic bubble sofa with his new all-weather Gemini collection.

This year’s RH outdoor launch has us anxious for warmer temps. With these beautiful pieces, our pool days and alfresco cocktail parties are about to look a lot more chic.
