Revlon Teams Up With Adwoa Aboah’s Gurls Talk for a Special Makeup Collaboration

If there was ever a brand ambassador who can inject authenticity into one of ever-growing numbers of beauty campaigns focused on body positivity, mental health, and women's empowerment, it's Adwoa Aboah. A survivor of both drug addiction and self-harm, the April 2018 Allure cover model founded Gurls Talk, a nonprofit organization that serves as a community and support network for young people to talk freely about their feelings. That's why it's so refreshing to see the new Revlon x Gurls Talk collaboration — a worlds-collide moment for Aboah that sends an uplifting message through makeup.

The limited-edition collection includes three sets, each of which contains three products in shades personally selected by Aboah. They're packaged with artwork created by Ambivalently Yours, an illustrator who was selected by Gurls Talk and Revlon "to embody the important women’s issues of each kit," a press release says.

The pink-centric Dare to Love Yourself set is intended to "celebrate body positivity and encourage you to love the skin you are in," and includes the chip-resistant Nail Enamel in Be Your Bae, moisturizing, high-pigment Super Lustrous Lipstick in Yas Girl, and shimmery Eyeshadow Putty in Be-U-Ti-Ful. The set called Celebrate Every Piece of Yourself focuses on yellow and gold hues "to support conversations around feminine health" and "make educated choices about their own bodies," and it includes Nail Enamel in Go With The Flow, Super Lustrous Lipstick in My Rights, and Eyeshadow Putty in Check Yourself.

The final set, called It’s Ok to Feel Everything, "features shades of blue to bring awareness to mental well-being." Like the other sets, it contains Nail Enamel and Super Lustrous Lipstick — in Tough As Nails and Love Ya Self, respectively — but instead of Eyeshadow Putty, it comes with the glitter-packed Lip Topper in All the Feels.

"If I had somewhere I felt safe enough to talk about the things going on in my life, whether they be small or big, I don’t think I would have bottled up everything so much and had it fall to pieces," Aboah told Allure of Gurls Talk last year. And now, with the help of this collaboration, more young people can become aware of this safe space to express what's on their minds.

The three sets are now available on revlon.com for $15 each.
