Revelstoke Announces Opening Day But Tempers Expectations

Revelstoke in BC (the resort with the longest lift-served vertical in North America at 5,620 feet!) opens tomorrow, December 9th.

After a delay in opening, "the 2023/24 winter season kicks off on Saturday, December 9th. Our team has been working overtime to ensure we start the season off right."

The resort initially delayed opening due to a dry season, much like many areas of the American West this year.

Mount Bachelor in Oregon, and Crystal Mountain in Washington were also forced to postpone their mountain operations.

Revelstoke made sure guests didn't expect to be dropping cliffs and skiing glades right this minute. "Typical to opening conditions, base depth varies depending on terrain and elevation. The skiing in the alpine is quite good, but guests can expect heavy snow, crusts, and ice at lower elevations."

However, it's hard not to get excited: many lifts are open, including Upper and Lower Revelation Gondola, Stoke Chair, Ripper Chair, Stellar Chair, and tentatively Cupcake Carpet.

Revelstoke also issued the warning that "downloading via the Revelation Gondola will be mandatory from mid-station and is recommended from the top for beginner and intermediate skiers and riders."

Currently, Revelstoke has a 35 inch base (88 cm, to be exact) and a season total of 92 inches (234 cm), with 2 cm falling in the last day and 27 inches (68 cm) over the last week.

What's the claim? Are you adhering to guidelines, keeping your expectations reasonable? Or are you fully Revel-stoked?
