Tom Holland, 27, had the best response when asked about the height difference between him and Zendaya, 27, back in 2021 – and that interview, which resurfaced on Instagram on August 29th this year, will live rent-free in our minds forever!

Women being taller than their partners is nothing new – even in Hollywood, with some very famous examples being Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham. Even newly-separated Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas had a height difference between them; and we don’t think the Game of Thrones actress being taller than the Jonas Brothers musician had anything to do with them calling it quits. Therefore, we totally get where the Uncharted actor was coming from when he called the height difference questions “ridiculous.”

Tom Holland Calls Questions About His And Zendaya’s Height Difference ‘Ridiculous’

Back in December 2021, Tom, who is 5’8, and Zendaya, who is 5’10, were promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home at a Sirius XM Town Hall event, when host Jessica Shaw asked them how their on-screen kissing worked despite their height difference.

“What I’m saying is I’m always fascinated by – because it’s such a misogynistic thing that like, ‘Oh my God, the woman [is taller],’ and it is so problematic,” Shaw said, to which Tom and Zendaya immediately responded that it wasn’t a problem at all. Tom said thinking it would be a problem was a “stupid assumption,” while the Euphoria actress pointed out how common it is for women to be taller than their partners, even pointing out: “My mom is taller than my dad. My mom’s taller than everyone.” Tom carried on, saying, “It’s ridiculous,” and recalled how most if not all of the women who screen tested with him were taller than him.

“I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests…you’d have to ask Jon Watts this question, but every girl that we tested for both roles was taller than me,” the Impossible actor recalled. “I wonder whether that was a decision Jon had made. There was no one that tested that was shorter than I was. To be fair, I am quite short, so maybe that was a decision Jon Watts made and something he was aware of and wanted to break the stereotype. I think it’s great.” The Bulgari ambassador added that their characters kissing was a “sweet moment” between them, and admired how the team didn’t choose to “cheat it” by asking Tom to stand on a box, or similar, to give the illusion that he was taller.

Fan Comments

Fans had a lot of comments about the resurfaced clip on Instagram, with one person saying: "It's weird how they basically have to justify their height difference and relationship. Why are people so worked up about this?" "They must be so tired of the same topic," thought another fan. "I love how they all shut it down and didn't even justify it with an answer," wrote another fan, as another added: "That's like the dumbest interview question."

"When will interviewers stop bringing up appearance related questions. We. Don’t. Care!" exclaimed another fan. "How horrible to get asked these questions over and over again," thought another fan, as another praised the Dune actress, writing: "I like how they stand up for each other and Zendaya especially is like nah my man ain't small it is your mind that is small." "They are perfect!" exclaimed another fan, followed by the fire emoji.
