These restaurants in Brandywine Hundred and Port Penn have closed their doors

The New Castle County restaurants Ulysses American Gastropub in Brandywine Hundred and the Augustine Inn Seafood and Chop House in Port Penn have closed their doors permanently.

Ulysses, a restaurant in the Shoppes of Graylyn off Marsh Road, stopped operations earlier this month after about 13 years. The restaurant's website is no longer available and its voicemail box is full and not receiving messages. Facebook messages left were not immediately returned.

"After much consideration, we made the difficult decision to close Ulysses American Gastropub," read a sign on the door of the restaurant on Wednesday, March 27 from brothers Mike and Stephen Lucey, who opened the site in 2011.

"We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and that we were able to provide a welcoming neighborhood restaurant for all."

The Luceys started Ulysses with founding chef Sean McNeice, who had worked for the former Cherry Tree Hospitality Group in Wilmington and later at Chelsea Tavern, also in the city.

The brothers still run Six Paupers Tavern & Restaurant in Hockessin and were the original owners of Dead Presidents Pub & Restaurant in Wilmington.
