Restaurant in Wisconsin ranks in the top half of Yelp’s 100 Best BBQ Spots
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WFRV) – Barbecue is one of the most iconic dishes in the United States and most prominent in the southern portion of the country. However, one Wisconsin restaurant is changing the narrative after ranking inside the top 50 of Yelp’s Top 100 BBQ Spots.
Located at 7412 West Greenfield Avenue in West Allis, Double B’s BBQ ranked 47th on the list and earned its stripes through its head chef, Mark Timber.

A pit master 40 years in the making, Timber has sharpened steel alongside some of Milwaukee’s biggest names. Catch him in the kitchen, and he’ll explain that three elements are necessary to make the best barbecue: good meat, a proper fire, and a devotion to detail.
In 2014, Timber laid out his business plan of making barbecue so good that people would drive 18 miles in 100-degree weather down a dirt road just to try it. Through Greenfield Avenue happens to be a two-lane thoroughfare just outside downtown Milwaukee; the proof remains in the pork.
Double B’s BBQ offers signature baby back ribs, St. Louis-style spare ribs, brisket burnt ends, kielbasa, smoked pulled pork, and a variety of other mouthwatering options.
On Yelp, Double B’s BBQ has earned a 4.4 rating through its nearly 600 reviews. Many community members say the food is excellent, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the customer service is second to none.
Restaurant hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Double B’s BBQ is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Wright’s Barbecue in Johnson, Arkansas, took home the top spot on Yelp’s Top 100. Corkscrew BBQ in Spring, Texas, was the runner-up, while Eric’s Family Barbecue in Avondale, Arizona, finished in the final podium spot.
