Chick-fil-A comes to South Salem
Salem's first Chick-fil-A at Kuebler and Gateway opened in late June.
The chain restaurant is the newest to open at the retail development by the South Salem Costco. Beside the drive-through restaurant are a Starbucks and Killer Burger, which recently opened.
The location's franchisee owner is Lee Richardson, who moved to the area from Kentucky.
Salem's first Chick-fil-A comes almost a year after the Keizer location opened. The grand opening included the chain restaurant's mascot greeting folks in and outside the restaurant.
For more details about the location, check out the location's official website, chick-fil-a.com/locations/or/kuebler-gateway, or the Facebook page.
Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday

Brix Tavern opens in Keizer Station
Brix Tavern opened in mid-May in the former Bargarten location at Keizer Station, just four months after Bargarten closed.
The Keizer Brix Tavern is the third of the family-friendly, restaurant-pub concept from the Urban Restaurant Group. Two other locations are in Tualatin and Portland.
Owner Mark Byrum said taking over the former Bargarten space was discussed last fall, when he became aware it would be available. Most of the front and back staff from Bargarten stayed to work for Brix, including the chef and general manager.
"We're not a chain restaurant," Byrum said. "We created the Brix brand when we had kids and wanted to have a place to watch TV and have friends."
The space looks a little different, as there was some "cosmetic remodel" done, Byrum said. The space is available for groups to rent, from the back room and patio to the front room.
"We're super excited to be in the community and hold events like we have at our other locations," Byrum said.
The menu includes lunch and dinner options of soup, salad, appetizers, burgers, pizza and an extensive wine, beer and spirits list. Happy hour is also offered from Tuesday to Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, plus Sunday and Monday from 3 p.m. to close.
