When’s that restaurant moving? Two Fort Worth favorites go dark in weeks, relocating

Reata, Los Vaqueros both move June 30

Hey, Bud! So Los Vaqueros is moving June 30. When is Reata moving again?

—Dan, Fort Worth

Reata and Los Vaqueros will both go dark the same day — June 30.

Reata is moving two blocks from 312 Houston St. to 500 Throckmorton St. So, this is the last year to spot celebrity guests in the current Reata during the Charles Schwab Challenge golf tournament May 20-26.

Los Vaqueros is moving one block to 2513 Rodeo Plaza.

The new Reata location in The Tower will have red awnings and giant picture windows.

Woodshed, Maria’s nearest to Colonial

Hey, Bud! What’s the closest restaurant to Colonial for the golf tournament?

—Driving from Alliance

First of all, stay off the 60-year-old University Drive cloverleaf exit.

If you’re coming from downtown to the zoo or Colonial, always take the Chisholm Trail Parkway exit off I-30 and then exit University — it’s free and easier.

Woodshed Smokehouse is still the closest restaurant, or it’s a short river walk to Maria’s Mexican Kitchen, Quince’s patio and the HG Sply Co. grill and bar.

Or walk up Rogers Road to the Rogers Roundhouse burger patio.

Woodshed Smokehouse sits by the Trinity River.

The food delivery blues

Hey, Bud! Why do restaurants charge more for delivery orders?

—West side reader

I get only complaints about outside delivery companies.

They’re convenient, and they’ve helped a lot of small restaurants reach new customers. But they also charge restaurants up to a 40% commission, and they foul up a lot of orders.

Some restaurants offer their own delivery.
