Resourceful Dog Mom Has a Genius Trick for a DIY Dog Enrichment Activity

This frozen snack will keep your dog busy for a while.

Keeping dogs entertained can seem like a challenge at times, especially for owners of high-energy breeds. Toys and snacks only work for so long! Luckily, pet parents have been sharing their helpful dog enrichment hacks, and this DIY snack is one of our favorites.

The human behind @thezcattledogs concocted this long-lasting treat out of a bell pepper, a carrot, and some wet dog food--nothing else! It didn't take them long to prepare the activity for their pups, but it can keep the dogs entertained for longer than a plain old toy.

This is genius! We never would've thought about freezing dog food inside of a bell pepper. It's like a healthy, savory pup-sicle for any dog who needs a cool treat or something to do. Just think of how great this would be for food-motivated dogs!

"I was scared because I thought it was a moldy pepper," wrote commenter @sillylily2981. "LOL, but good idea." OMG, so we weren't the only ones to think that at first! At first glance, it's definitely hard to tell what's inside the pepper (besides a carrot), but we're glad everyone could have a laugh about the mistake.

Dog owner @sichler5 said, "So glad this came across my FYP! I've been looking for something I can actually leave my pup alone with because she chews through everything." We have a feeling a lot of other pup parents can relate! Thankfully, this snack is meant to be gnawed on, so your chewer will be able to satisfy their impulses while enjoying a treat. This idea just keeps getting better and better!
