Rescue's Tender Care of 19-Year-Old Dying Cat Has Us So Moved

Her last days will be so filled with love.

Our hearts go out to all the senior animals who are living in shelters. It’s so sad because most people who adopt want a younger animal to bring home. We hate to see these older animals not get all the love they deserve in their final days. But luckily, rescue shelters step in to show love if they don’t get adopted.

That’s what happened at a Custar, Ohio-based cat rescue. The rescue, known on TikTok as @theceoofcats, has been housing a 19-year-old cat named Abby for the past two years after the previous owner passed away. Ugh, our hearts are breaking. And even though the cat's days are waning, this rescue is making sure she’s well taken care of.

Ugh, we can’t stop crying over this. We feel so bad that Abby has to spend her last couple of years in the shelter, but we’re glad the employees are giving her all the love, especially in the final days.

“She loves being treated like a kitten sent me over the edge,” commented @babysteelyaheart. SAME! She just wanted to feel youthful one last time. Oh no, here come the tears again. The creator responded by saying, “I had to cut the sound because we were crying. She was purring so loud.” Stop it!

@Zranachan wrote, “I swear cats letting us know its time is such a hard message to receive. They are ready before we are ready to accept it. Treasure her while you can.” Wow, what a sweet message. This should be a reminder to us all. Cherish every moment you can with your fur babies. Time goes faster than you think.
