Rescued Calf's First Time Running Free in a Pasture Is Full of Beauty

For the first few weeks of Heathcliff the calf’s life, he was tied up on a chain at a dairy farm. Thankfully, kind people rescued him and he ended up at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, a vegan rescue for farm animals who are saved from abuse.

Luckily, this little guy will only know love from here on out. When he got his first taste of freedom, it was clear that this was the life that he was always meant to live. He completely took off galloping in excitement!

His feet nearly floated off the ground as he kept running and running. While he was running, he nearly ran into the person filming him. He is an active little guy and there’s no stopping him now!

Someone in the comments compared him to a big puppy—and that couldn’t be any more true. That’s just what he looked like running around in the grass playing by himself.

Heathcliff is an adorable little calf and we’re so glad that he’s safe now. Countless baby cows are killed on farms across the world every year due to the demand for products like milk and veal. By seeing this little cow happy and healthy, we can only hope that people would support these industries less.

Heathcliff is absolutely thriving in the care of the sanctuary, and we only hope that he continues to do his laps every day. It’s almost as if he is doing freedom laps. He’s such a happy little guy!

Now, Heathcliff is a large, full-grown cow with horns—but he’s still just as happy as when he was first rescued. Now, he can spend time with his cow friends at the sanctuary and take in the sunshine on his back. He’ll never again know what it is like to feel abused and unloved.
